April 2018 is Oral Cancer Awareness Month in the United States. Peninsula Dental Care is supporting the Oral Cancer Foundation’s efforts, by conducting annual exams on all patients aged 18 and older. To enhance the campaign, we encourage our local community to play a significant role this year.
These screening exams can be a powerful tool to reduce the impact of oral cancer in our local community and to promote the health of our patients. Peninsula Dental Care also align ourselves with a new initiative by the Oral Cancer Foundation, the Check Your Mouth™ initiative (checkyourmouth.org). This initiative encourages the public to check regularly for signs and symptoms of oral cancer in between dental visits. Consider to see a dental professional if they do not improve or disappear after 2-3 weeks.
